Hon Okaeben said he has been receiving strange calls since he learnt about the plot.
Okaeben who spoke in a chat with newsmen said he was being targeted because he fought against plots to remove former Governor Adams Oshiomhole’s legacies in the State.
The Edo lawmaker who said his life was being threatened called on security agencies to protect him and his family.
According to him, “The threats are coming after the governor in a recent meeting with some selected Oredo APC leaders informed them that he will deal with me, that if I don’t take time he will ensure I was not inaugurated during the swearing in of the incoming lawmakers.
“As you know I am one of the returning lawmakers in the House. Since this threat, I have been receiving strange calls which have made me so uncomfortable. So I am appealing to the Inspector General of Police and other security agencies to protect me and my family.
“I also complained that why is the central hospital still under lock and key after the former governor, Adams Oshiomhole built and equipped the hospital for the usage of Edo people. Besides, governor Obaseki was chairman of the state Government Economic Team when Oshiomhole was governor so why is he setting up kangaroo Committee in the state House of Assembly to rubbish the name of Oshiomhole.
“The hospital is fully equipped and he has refused to open it for Edo people to use and I feel we deserve to ask questions because it was done with Edo people’s tax payers money. I have kicked against his anti-people’s policies which was what affected us during the presidential election.
Come to think of it, Obaseki, Philip Shaibu and Osarodion Ogie were all products of Oshiomhole, including my humble self. So I asked them why will they be on the saddle and destroy Oshiomhole’s legacies.
“I will not allow the governor to destroy the legacies of our collective struggle under the leadership of Comrade Oshiomhiole as governor. Even when he was not the most intelligent person in Edo state he was made chairman of the Economic Team. All of us have all climbed on the back of Oshiomhole to rise to where we are today. So for anybody to be cooking up evil against a man that labored and made APC stand firm in Edo State out of the six South-South states, it is a crime against God and man and we will not allow them.
“Because of my humble background, I was taught by my parents never to try to destroy any one for any economic gain or success because he who destroys in order to succeed must surely have destruction awaiting him or her at the peak of his or her success” the lawmaker declared.
State Chairman of the APC, Anselm Ojezua, said he was not aware of such plot.
